a little about me
Hello! My name is Ariel Siegelman, and thank you so much for checking out my portfolio.
I grew up in York, PA, a mid-sized town about two hours west of Philadelphia. After graduating high school, I spent the next several years based at Penn State in State College, PA (with stays in Perugia, Italy, and New York City for study abroad and internship experiences, respectively). There, I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as began my career in higher education and educational technology.
In 2016, eager to try city life, I moved to Philly, and it's been my home ever since. For five years, I worked at the Center of the Advancement of Teaching (CAT) at Temple University, where I guided and assisted instructors with best, research-based practices of using and teaching with educational technology. This opportunity not only allowed me to interact with some truly fabulous colleagues and faculty, but also greatly developed my knowledge and expertise in the Teaching & Learning field.
Today I work as the Manager of Learning Engagement at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. I am involved in a university-wide initiative to continuously improve each Canvas course offered, conduct Teaching & Learning workshops, help faculty integrate engaging educational technology and strategies, and apply my Teaching & Learning knowledge as an adjunct instructor of Harrisburg University's first-year seminar course, EXPL 100. I look forward to continuing to develop my career in Teaching & Learning.
Some other things I like include:
■ music & live shows ■ playing piano, electric guitar & ukulele ■ singing & choir
■ thrifting & antiquing ■ architecture & interior design ■ sewing & fashion
■ ancestry research ■ practicing Italian ■ traveling
■ crossword puzzles & word/trivia games ■ reading & writing
■ cooking & dining out ■ yoga & hiking
■ going on walks, especially in my West Philly neighborhood
■ being the cool aunt to my two darling nieces
■ my cat, Vita Louise (affectionately known as Miss V)
